Chapter Five

Bree was in the same class as Annabeth and Grover. Chase had the same class as Percy. Leo and Adam were in French class.
Chase looked at his test paper, immediately filling every answer correctly, thanks to his super smarts.
"Rrrr. Uhg." The girl beside him hit herself on the forehead. "I studied. I'm still stupid." She mumbled. Chase looked up and saw pretty girl. Her snowy white hair, that matched her pale skin, fell over her shoulders as she concentrated hard. She turned towards him and he realized she had been watching him in the corner of her eye. Her ice blue eyes gave Chase a solemn, icy stare. It was if she was studying every detail of him, but the girl's stare was also like she saw right through him and he wasn't even there. The girl looked away quickly and went back to concentrating on her test. The bell rang and she sped out if the room. Chase didn't usually do this, but he jogged and caught up with her. She was at the girls' bathroom door.
"Hey. I saw you were um, uh," He was stunned at how pretty she seemed. ",having trouble with math and I need some money, so I was thinking I could tutor you. I'm really good at math."
There was that icy stare again. This time it showed she was mad, embarrassed, and offended that he said right to her face she was having trouble.
"Go ahead. Rub your smarts in my face. And I am not having trouble with math!" The hallway got colder. "I-" She ducked off into the bathroom stealthily. Annabeth, Percy, and Grover walked pass.
"Oh hey! Chase- right?" Percy said.
"Yeah." Chase replied.
"Well, just wanted to say hi." The Greek trio continued on their way. Chase did too in the opposite direction. This time the girl chased after him.
"Wait!" She tapped him on the shoulder. "I do need a tutor. How much?"
Chase was surprised. "$20 an hour."
"Deal." She received his phone number and pocketed it in a designer mean jacket. "But we'll have to go to the library or something. Not my place." The truth was she didn't have a home.
"Oh no problem." He solved. "We can just study at my place." He gave her his address and she pocketed that too.
"Okay."
"You're new right? What's your name?"
"Charmaine." She put out her hand.
"Mine's Chase." He shook her hand and quickly pulled his hand back in shock. "Your hands are cold." He politely stated.
"Yeah, I get that a lot." She wondered why after all these years, she still shook people's hands.
Charmaine rang the doorbell on the fancy door numerous times. A short boy with chocolate brown skin opened the door.
"Can I help you?" He asked.
"Hi, I'm Charmaine. Is this the Davenport house?" She glanced inside.
"Yes. By the way I'm Leo." He scanned her over quickly. "Are you here for Adam?"
"No. For Chase." She corrected.
"Seriously?"
"Um, yes."
"A hot girl here to see Chase? That's a first." Leo stepped aside and opened the door wide for her.
"Thank you." She floated inside on platform heels.
"Aren't you gonna gasp at how large the house is?" He asked like millions of people dd.
"Nope." She lowered herself onto the sofa and spoke no more. A short man with his eyes locked on his phone's screen enterered, and a brown haired teen that was talking to a tall guy the same age as her trailed behind.
"Hey." The tall guy said realizing her presence. He sat down next to her. I'm Adam and-"
Charmaine whipped her head around to face him. "Look, Adam. I'm just here to see Chase. I don't wanna talk much."
"Seriously?" The brown-haired girl spoke up.
"A hot girl here to see Chase?!" Adam said, surprised.
The short man didn't have to even look up. "That's a first." He repeated Leo's words.
"Chase! Charmaine's here to see you!" Leo shouted to upstairs. Chase came running down some spiraling stairs in the corner of he huge room. Everyone watched the scene.
"Oh, hey! You're here for the tutoring lesson?" Chase questioned.
"Ohhhh." Leo, Adam, the brown haired girl and the short man said in unison. They realized that was the only reason she was there.
"No, I'm here to see Lady Gaga perform." Charmaine rolled her eyes sarcastically.
"Really?!" Adam excitedly interrupted. "When's she getting here?!!"
Charmaine looked at him and scrunched her eyebrows.
"Just ignore him." Chase went to the sofa and set his books on the coffee table. "We can study here."
She set her books down too, tied back her botticelli curls, and they started the tutoring lesson.

Chapter Four

Six hours on a plane had scarred Percy. Charmaine had disappeared and they didn't seem to care. They walked to the address of the five-star resort hotel that Chiron had booked for them online.
"Nice." Percy said walking in. "It's kinda like the Lotus Hotel Casino we stayed in before. Minus 40%." Annabeth smiled at him. There were three beds, two bathrooms and a kitchen with a microwave and a regular sized fridge. "I just thought of something. If there's no one here to pretend to be our parents, how are we gonna enroll in the school?"
"Oh, no prob. Chiron enrolled us online as our father. Which is really weird for a school that isn't online. They must have a horrible principle. By the way, our last name is Jensen. I picked it out." Annabeth replied.
"Oh, okay. That sounds suspiciously like Jackson."
"Shut up Seaweed Brain." She threw a pillow at him.
"Alright." He put his hands up like he was surrendering. "I'm shutting up." They all  unpacked their belongings and placed them in the drawers. They had brought about $200 just in case, even though they had room service for food.

Adam, Bree, Chase, and Leo walked in the school'a front door. They were late and everyone else was in class. Adam was making short jokes about Chase and punching him in the stomach. The jokes were a little harsher and Adam punched harder than usual . The fourth time Chase had enough and caught Adam's hand while it was in midair. Commando mode engaged.
A group of three other kids watched as Chase picked up Adam by the collar of his shirt and threw him against a locker.
"Do you understand the no punching me rule?!"
"Yes, Spike!" Adam gulped.
"Good." Chase (Spike) dropped Adam to the floor. Commando app disengaged. "Commando mode disengaged?! Guys! Why was I in commando mo-hi!" He said noticing the three strangers walking in the school. Two boys and a girl. One of the guys was in crutches and had curly brown hair with brown eyes. The other guy had sea green eyes and black hair. The girl had blond curled hair and tanned skin like a California girl (and they were in California) but her eyes ruined the image. They were stormy grey.
"Hi." The blonde said. "We're, uh, new and looking for the office."
"I'm Chase." He smiled at her and she returned it. He had brown hair and warm brown eyes, the best kind.
"Why did he call you Spike then?" She motioned towards Adam.
"Oh this is Adam. He just, calls me that sometimes." He quickly came up with an excuse. Adam was half a head taller than Chase. He had the same color eyes and hair just darker.
"Yep, I call him that sometimes." Adam agreed.
"And I'm Bree." The girl spoke up. She had brown eyes and brown curled hair, but not like Annabeth's curls.
"I'm Percy and this is Grover." Percy said motioning toward Grover. Grover leaned on his crutches and waved.
"The office is right over there." Bree pointed down the hall.
"Thanks." Annabeth said tugging the two boys to the office. Once they were out of hearing range Annabeth whispered to Percy and Grover. "Did you see that? Chase picked up Adam and Chase is only half his size! And what in the world is commando mode?"
"I have no idea." Was Percy's reply and Grover agreed. They walked into the office. It was messy with papers everywhere. A short woman in a pantsuit leaned back in her chair with her feet on the desk. She had red hair and the three Halfbloods could tell this was going to be one long month.
"Well, hello. You must be the new twerps. Percy, Grover, and Annie." The principal said in a rough voice.
"Actually it's Annabeth." Annabeth politely interrupted.
"Zip it Annie." The principal went back to talking. "I'm Principal Perry. If you have any complaints, deal with it. This isn't daycare." She gave them their schedules and shooed them out.
"Wow," Percy said, "she's worse than Mr. D."
"I know, right?" Annabeth and Grover both said.
"So, what's on your schedule first?" Percy asked.
"Literature." Annabeth answered.
"Me too." Grover related. "What's yours?" Percy squinted at the paper, he was dyslexic and that hadn't changed in four years.
"Math." Percy sighed. He didn't have great experiences with math teachers.
"Oh. Good luck." Grover and Annabeth went up the stairs together after they gathered their books. Percy went down the hall to his own class.

Chapter Three

"Long time, no see." The girl said to Grover and Percy.
"I thought you were dead! Not that it's a bad thing you're alive. I just suspected you'd be dead after all these years when you ran away from Camp Halfblood." Grover said to the girl who must've been Charmaine.
Annabeth perked up. "Oh, you're the girl everyone was talking about that ran away and you had some kind of ice powers. What was that? Four years ago?"
"Wow, I'm glad to see someone remembers me. Even if it is the person I never met." She held out her hand, totally ignoring Percy in the seat between them. "I'm Charmaine. Call me Char."
"I'm Annabeth. Did you know your name is Greek for charm or song. " She smiled and shook Charmaine's hand she instantly let go. "Cold!" Now she knew why Grover dropped the sword.
"Sorry." Charmaine said innocently. "Sometimes, I can't control it. It's best if you don't touch me." She pulled her hand back. Now it was Percy's turn to say something.
"Charmaine? The girl who was at my apartment door with the box. Grover told me that you ran away from camp. So what've you been doing all these years?"
"Oh just stealing food, moving across the country, fighting monsters, mortal friends that I left behind, making blizzards in Africa, Demigod friends that died, you know, just your typical Halfblood life on the streets." Charmaine replied calmly. They could tell she was trying not to cry. She started to cry. The weird thing was, when her tears hit the ground, they turned into ice and snow. She told them that's why she tried to never cry. The spot where Charmaine was grew frost that ran across the floor and crept up the wall of the plane.
"Um, Annabeth." Grover elbowed her gently and then pointed to the window, quickly covering in frost.
"Hey, hey." Percy comforted. "You're not the only one who knows what it's like to live on the streets. Annabeth did when she was little." Annabeth nodded.
"Yeah but did she live on the streets for four years?" Charmaine wiped her eyes and sat up. There was an hour of silence. Percy decided to break it.
"So, who's your godly parent?" He asked.
"I have no idea." She lied. She was never claimed but she did have an idea of who her parent godly parent was.
"Let's see. Ice and snow. Frost. Cold wind… It's to obvious. Your father is Boreas!" He figured.
"Yeah. You got me. A few years ago I visited his palace and met my sister Khione. Cleopatra didn't like me very much but Khione gave me ways to control my powers. I would've gone back to Camp Halfblood but, there's no cabin for Boreas."
"Humph. Who knew the daughter of a minor got could have such major powers." Grover said in a bad mood.
"Wow, your not being very nice." Charmaine said sarcastically.
"You froze our sneakers to the sidewalk!"
"That was four years ago. Let it go already. And speaking of that… Did Alexis ever find out who her godly parent was?"
Annabeth answered for Grover. "Yeah. Alexis Montier?  She's my sister."
"And you are…?"
"The child of Athena. Goddess of wisdom and battle." She said like it was clearly obvious.
"Oh. Alexis is a child of Athena." Then she blurted out. "Okay let me get to the point. I'm here because I want to join you on your quest."
"No-" Annabeth began.
"Deal." Grover cut in. "But you have to come back to Camp Halfblood with us." That startled Charmaine.
"Never mind. I don't want to come along." She stood up and went to the bathroom.
Percy had been clutching the seat the entire time everyone talked. He still hadn't forgotten his fear. He realized that Charmaine never knew he was the child of Poseidon but then he asked himself why Charmaine had said it's typical for you Perseus and that probably meant she knew it was typical because he's the son of Poseidon.  Grover realized that Charmaine never knew he was a satyr.

"Principal Perry why am I in detention?! I didn't do anything!" Leo asked miserably.
Principal Perry evil-eyed him suspiciously "I don't know how you did this but I know you had something to do with the gym falling apart."
"Sure. I used my superpowers to start and earthquake." He replied sarcastically.
"Don't you sass me Dooley!" She snapped. Leo rolled his eyes and went back to his homework.

Chapter Two

"I can't believe you wiped out the whole gym with your bionics. When Mr. Davenport gets to you, you'll be dead." Chase scolded quietly as they walked to their school lockers.
"Relax," Adam said in his carefree and ignorant tone, "everyone thinks it was just an earthquake."
"An earthquake that just happened to fry every electrical circuit in the room?!" Chase gritted his teeth.
"Okay. That makes sense." Adam replied casually. Chase rolled his eyes sarcastically.
"Why were you using your blast wave ability anyway?" Bree asked.
"I was bowling." They weren't surprised. This was typicall, crazy, not-smart-at-all Adam.
"What were you bowling?!" Leo cut in. Whatever he was bowling had it have been huge and heavy.
"I was bowling concrete statues." He answered.
"You make concrete statues?" Leo asked.
"Yeah. Don't you guys?" Everyone looked at him and rolled their eyes. They went off to their separate classes.

At the airport they had arrived two hours before the flight. Percy savored every moment he had on land. When it was time to board the flight he wouldn't let go of Annabeth's hand. Annabeth giggled at seeing Pery so afraid.
"Well, I'm glad my fear amuses you." He said and a faint smile played across his lips.
"Sorry." Annabeth apparently couldn't tell he was smiling.
"Come on." Grover said "We don't wanna miss the flight." Percy gulped at the sound of the word flight.
On the plane the seats were lined four on one side of the plane and four on the other side and it kept this pattern. Grover sat by the window (because Percy refused to be able to see outside) then Annabeth then Percy and a girl who was about the same age as them sat on the end. She had whitish-blond hair and icy blue eyes. When Percy was near her he felt the temperature drop  and suddenly it was cold. She seemed vaguely familiar and Grover agreed too. Annabeth said there was no way they knew her (mostly because she was jealous of the girl and how Percy stared at her).
"Hi." The girl said after everyone was asleep but Percy couldn't sleep. He'd wake up instantly at the lightest bit of turbulence. The girl's voice was familiar too.
"Oh, uh, hi." Percy was surprised that she had talked.
She smiled and looked down at Percy's hands that were clenching the seat. "Oh scared of flying huh."
"Yeah, you have no idea."
"Actually I do. It's typical for you Perseus." Hold on a second. Percy thought, because only two things knew his full name- friends and monsters. Instinctively he uncapped his trusty sword Riptide. Percy nudged his friends. Grover and Annabeth fluttered their sleepy eyes open.
"Whoa there Mr. Monster Slayer." The girl flicked her wrist and a blast of icy cool snow blew the sword out of its unaware holder and it clashed on the window, then fell to the floor. Grover picked it up then instantly dropped it.
"Cold!" He looked closer at the sword. "Ice…" Then Grover looked back at the girl. "Charmaine!"

After school Adam, Bree, and Chase hurried home. Leo was stuck in detention. Mr. Davenport had sent them an urgent mission alert to their phones, and soon the bionic trio rushed into the secret lab.
Chase rushed in, leading the group. "Mr. Davenport! What's going on?"  They heard an annoying voice laugh from all around them. "Eddy! Did you send us another fake mission alert?" Chase said looking at the smart home system icon that made himself appear on every screen in he room.
"Nope. Not me this time!" Eddy was always laughing (but it wasn't like an evil laugh, it was like someone had told a hilarious joke) and smiling when people were tricked, mad, or hurt. He was always making mean jokes and teasing everybody. But he wasn't like a bully, just the annoying guy (although Adam and Bree thought Chase was pretty annoying).
"It was me." Mr. Davenport came out from behind a corner. "It was urgent but not a mission. YOU DESTROYED THE SCHOOL GYM WITH YOUR BIONICS!!! Do you know how much money in damages I'll have to pay if they think you had anything to do with it! First paying for the gym and then keeping your bionic secret and we'll-"
"You won't have to pay a cent, Mr. Davenport. We made it all look like an earthquake." Chase gave Mr. Davenport a mischievous smile. Adam and Bree nodded.
"Up top!" The wealthy man said, immediately throwing away what he was talking about.  They all high-fived at the same time and smiled.

Chapter One

"Come on! Were gonna be late for school!" Leo shouted. He could here the constant bzzzzzz noise. Bree was blow drying her hair in the bathroom.
"Alright! I'm hurrying." Bree replied, sounding annoyed. Leo had expected the girl with the super speed would take less time.
"Just use your super speed! Do I have to give you the obvious!" Leo suggested.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that." She laughed lightly from behind the door. In  sixteen seconds she was out of the door. Her light brown hair was perfectly curled and draped around her shoulders. "Ta dah!" She spread her arms out and bowed. Leo gave her a weird look. "Oh just go." Bree motioned toward the door that led outside of the billion dollar house.

"Percy!" Annabeth had been looking for him for what seemed like forever. She had never thought to look in the most obvious place. He was sitting by the lake, thinking about his mother. This summer he had went year-round at Camp Halfblood. She knew that he worrying. She quietly jogged over, approaching him. She layed a hand gently on his shoulder. "Hey, it'll be okay." Annabeth ensured.
"Thanks." He smiled. "But I'm still going to worry." They had just recently battled Kronos and Percy had been in a daze for almost a week.
"Hey, I have something that'll take your mind off it. That's why I'm here." Percy stood up from his position of sitting on the dock with his legs in the water. He stood up, his legs were perfectly dry. Classic Percy, Annabeth thought, using his major powers in minor ways.
"Okay, give it a shot." Percy said. They walked across the lake's shore, hand in hand, as Annabeth explained.
"Chiron says strange activity was on the news. A witness that watched the entire gym at his school fall apart, said that one of the school's students gathered electricity in his hands and created a blast wave of power that made the whole gym rumble like there was an earthquake. Everyone thinks he's crazy and it was just an earthquake but Demigods know better. Chiron is sending you, Grover, and me to that school. It's called Mission Creek High." She paused.
"And?" Percy waited impatiently.
"It's in California." She finished.
"That's across the country! We'd have to fly!"
"I know Percy, but that's the only way to get to the Halfblood in time. That blast wave electricity thing sounded a lot like lightning and that leads to Zeus. And you know what that means. There's only a matter of time before the monsters get to him. The witness said he didn't see a face. Just a tall guy, so we're going to have to go undercover as new students and check out the place. Grover's coming to because we need him to sniff out any Demigods."
"Annabeth, I can't fly. This time there'll be no lighting bolt stopping Zeus from zapping me out of the sky."
"I know but, Zeus will know that we're trying to save his son from monsters and he'll probably give us a chance."
"But-" Percy objected.
"Please Percy, I'll be with you the whole way. Please, for me?" She begged.
"Fine, I'll do it." He reluctantly agreed.
"Thanks Seaweed Brain." She planted a kiss on his cheek and jogged back to her cabin. Percy sighed and stared in the direction she had went, loosing himself in a daydream. He heard the conch shell blow its continuos tune. It snapped him out of the daydream and he left the lake for lunch.
